Neuropathy Drugs A Death Sentence for New Brain Pathways

Two commonly prescribed drugs for peripheral neuropathy have been proven to kill new brain pathways.

In 2009, a shocking study published in the journal Cell found that both Neurontin and Lyrica are a death sentence for new brain synapses. A synapse is the junction between 2 nerve cells that allows information to be passed from one nerve to another. Without proper synapses, the brain loses the ability to communicate effectively to other parts of the body. This can result in an inability to focus or concentrate, memory loss, confusion, and stages of dementia.

Neurontin (gabapentin) and Lyrica (pregabalin) are used to control or suppress nerve pain. Lyrica is a much newer drug and is far more potent than gabapentin.

Researchers have concluded that both Neurontin (gabapentin) and Lyrica (pregabalin) can drastically decrease brain plasticity (ability to form new connections) and, therefore, cause accelerated rates of brain decline.

Furthermore, in March 2017, scientists published a study in the Iranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences emphasizing the frightening adverse side effects of Lyrica (pregabalin). After 3 weeks of Lyrica usage, regardless of the dose, pathological cell damage occurred leading to muscle loss and atrophy, as well as brain shrinkage.

Within the last 5 years, prescription rates for Neurontin/gabapentin have increased by 150% and prescriptions for Lyrica have increased by 350%. Clinical studies have shown an enormous overuse of the drugs, even though, they continually prove to lack effectiveness, according to an article in the journal Addiction.

Both Neurontin and Lyrica come with a large list of side effects.

Side Effects of Neurontin (gabapentin) and Lyrica (pregabalin)

  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Loss of Balance
  • Lack of coordination
  • Memory Loss
  • Difficulty with concentration
  • Confusion
  • Tremors
  • Blurred Vision
  • Double Vision
  • Weight Gain
  • Suicidal Thoughts

Interactions Between Gabapentin & Lyrica

Using Neurontin (gabapentin) together with Lyrica (pregabalin) may intensify side effects of dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. Some people, especially the elderly, may also experience impairment in thinking, judgment, and motor coordination.

Finding Pain Relief

Although we understand pain control is an absolute necessity for people suffering from nerve pain, having to depend upon drugs like Neurontin or Lyrica places you at a tremendous risk of developing more nerve damage and other health issues. Not to mention the actual financial burden. Even with the best insurance coverage, your cost for Lyrica, alone can range from as little as $150 per prescription up to $450.

When working with patients suffering with nerve pain, we always recommend

Phyto Ultracomfort.

This is an all-natural pain relief formula that contains several safe and effective medicinal plants and herbs, such as, white willow bark, boswellia serrata, turmeric and devil’s claw. These ingredients have been shown in clinical research to be highly effective for combating nerve, muscle and joint pain. The best part about taking this formulation is that there are NO Side Effects and they are completely safe.
